Broncos’ rising star may have just given the New York Giants some perfect bulletin board material with his comments about QB Jaxson Dart
Quite the response from Jonathon Cooper.
The Denver Broncos are coming off back-to-back wins that both looked very different.
In the win over the Philadelphia Eagles, the offense came alive in the fourth quarter with quarterback Bo Nix putting on his Superman cape and having one of his best performances of his young career.
As for the New York Jets game, it was all defense, which brought down quarterback Justin Fields nine times and made his life miserable all day. One of the players who made life difficult for Fields was none other than rising star Jonathon Cooper.
Cooper is turning heads with his comments about New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart ahead of this week’s game. In fact, he may have just given the team some perfect bulletin board material heading into the matchup.
“He’s a young guy,” Cooper said. “He’s feeling himself a little bit. He’s out there running around. He’s got the chain on. He’s dancing. I feel like everybody needs something, you know. We’ve went against QBs who have ran around in the pocket and have tried to do stuff with their legs, ain’t nothing we haven’t seen.”
Cooper and Bonitto have been a nightmare for opposing QBs
Cooper and his fellow pass rusher, Nik Bonitto, have been on a tear through the early portions of the season. Bonitto is leading the league and the team with eight sacks, and Cooper is falling right behind him with four and a half.
In fact, Cooper and Bonitto are on pace for not only career years but record-breaking performances if they can keep it up throughout the NFL season. Bonitto has a real chance to break the single-season franchise record for sacks, and the defense could break the NFL sack record. Bonitto could end the year top 10 in team history, and Cooper could finish with 13 sacks, a nightmare scenario for any opposing quarterback, especially Dart.
If Denver’s defense keeps firing on all cylinders, Cooper and Bonitto could have one of the most feared pass rushes in football. The Giants’ offensive line and Dart better come prepared because this duo doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.
