There was one major takeaway from today's introductory press conference for new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton.
Change.
Change is own the horizon inside the building for the Broncos. Their players will feel it, and fans will probably be happy to hear all of this after last season's debacle with Nathaniel Hackett.
One of the massive changes coming for Denver is in respect to quarterback Russell Wilson's process.
Prior to the season, Wilson has had personal coaches around him in the team facility. Those coaches weren't on the team's staff, but the Broncos new HC is putting an end to that.
Payton says that the Broncos will have their staff. That will be the extent of the coaches around the team.
For Wilson, Payton makes so much sense for him in this point of his career. He needs a strong, determined mind with a legacy already built in the NFL. His history with Drew Brees and offensive experience speak for itself.
Deeper than that, Payton is a coach that has built his career on "his way." It's focused. It is unique.
His mindset and scheme led the Saints to plenty of success on offense as well as a Super Bowl. It is clear that is works, and Wilson should trust that. At this point of his career, Wilson knows that his physical abilities may not be quite what they once were, but he's still a smart QB.
With a gifted, veteran mind at HC, Wilson has his best chance to blossom for the Broncos.
