The Denver Broncos are coming off an electric overtime victory over the Washington Commanders. With the victory, Denver is sitting atop the AFC West and has one of the best records in the NFL. Before the season began, head coach Sean Payton said that this unit has what it takes to win a Super Bowl, and with each passing victory, the Broncos are putting themselves in position to do just that.

That’s not to say that the team is done adding to the roster, as was evident with their move on Tuesday to bring in former second-round pick wide receiver Elijah Moore. Quarterback Bo Nix and the offense get another weapon to work with, though Moore is on the practice squad.

The talented pass catcher had spent the season with the Buffalo Bills, but was released after the team signed wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the active roster. Moore now lands with the Broncos as the playoff race is heating up.

Moore struggled in limited snaps with Buffalo

It wasn’t all Moore’s fault with his lack of production with the Bills. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady has come under fire for his lack of execution in the passing game, and Moore was a casualty because of it. Allen and Moore just couldn’t build the chemistry they’d hoped for when Moore was signed to Buffalo ahead of the regular season.

In his 2025 season, Moore accounted for only nine catches for 112 yards in 9 games played in Buffalo, with only two starts.

Over his entire five-year career, Moore has totaled 209 receptions for 2,274 yards and nine touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Bills.

Now with Denver, the team is hoping to unlock some more potential out of the veteran pass catcher after a lackluster performance in Buffalo that wasn’t entirely his fault.

Moore gets a fresh start, and the Broncos will give him every opportunity to carve out a role if he shows something in practice. With the AFC West race tightening and Payton looking for every edge possible, adding a veteran with Moore’s resume is the kind of subtle move that could pay off down the stretch.
