The Denver Broncos have a superstar in edge defender Nik Bonitto. Bonitto has been a one-man wrecking crew through the early stages of the 2025 season, with no signs of slowing down.

Bonitto signed a massive contract extension in the offseason and has looked worth every penny. After a two-and-a-half-sack performance with three quarterback hits, Bonitto has earned the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week, a fitting accomplishment for a dominant pass rusher.

He left a parting gift for Eagles fans during the contest, hitting a Fly Eagles Fly dance after bringing down quarterback Jalen Hurts. Bonitto understood exactly what he was doing, and quite frankly, he didn’t care. The Broncos’ pass rusher let his feelings be known about his antics after the sack.

“I didn’t care,” Bonitto said. “I knew what the result was going to be. I wasn’t tripping about what the score was.”

Nik Bonitto has been dominant in 2025

Bonitto has been playing on an otherworldly level in the 2025 season, continuing on his impressive 2024 campaign. He has a chance to shatter team records and even dethrone former Broncos pass rusher Von Miller for the most sacks in a season.

Bonitto is on pace for 24 sacks and 105 quarterback pressures this season. He finished his 2024 season with 13.5 sacks and is over half the way there through only five weeks of the NFL season.

When Bonitto is on the football field, opposing offensive coordinators have to take notice, or he’ll make them pay in a big way.

In just the contest against the Eagles, Bonitto had a 21.7% pressure rate, which helped him take down Hurts multiple times throughout the matchup. Advanced data shows Bonitto sitting in second place in the league in terms of splash plays, falling only behind defensive end Will Anderson Jr.

Bonitto’s emergence has given Denver exactly what it hoped for — a relentless, game-changing force who can take over at any moment. Broncos Country has to love his flair and his unapologetic stance after hitting the Eagles dance after a sack. We have a feeling this won’t be the last time Bonitto earns some league-wide honors for his on-field performance.

Perhaps a Defensive Player of the Year, if Bonitto can keep up his hot start to the season.
