Wide receiver that Denver expressed interest in lands with New England Patriots
On Monday evening, The Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson reported that the Broncos had inquired about free agent wide receiver Romeo Doubs, who is hitting free agency after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday afternoon that Doubs has agreed to a deal with the New England Patriots.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots’ deal with Doubs is expected to be worth $70 million over four years.
$17.5 million per year isn’t cheap for a wide receiver who’s never totaled more than 724 receiving yards in a season.
Denver, however, is still in need of offensive weapons, and top options are quickly going off the board.
Perhaps someone like wide receiver Jauan Jennings could make sense for the Broncos. Jennings is a player who plays every snap with tremendous effort — his main focus is on winning over his own stats.
Jennings is expected to receive a deal similar to the one that Doubs received from New England.
