Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is set to interview with the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders for their head coaching vacancies this week, per NFL Insider Josina Anderson.

Joseph's first interview will be with the Jets on Wednesday, followed by the Raiders on either Thursday or Friday. After a rough start during his first year as Denver's defensive coordinator in 2023, Joseph got his defense to settle in nicely and finished that season strong. That momentum carried over in 2024 as the Broncos finished with the seventh ranked overall defense in the NFL.

Joseph's front seven was one of the best units in the league, recording the most sacks in the NFL with 63 and ranking third against the run, allowing the second-fewest yards per carry at just 3.9. Joseph has seven years of experience as a defensive coordinator between the Broncos, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals.

Of course, Joseph also has head coaching experience, serving at the helm in Denver in 2017 and 2018. His defense played well during that span, but the Broncos' offense struggled mightily, largely due to poor quarterback play. Both the Jets and Raiders have big question marks at that position, so that will be crucial for Joseph to address when he interviews with those teams.

New York has already interviewed several candidates. If Joseph ends up there, he'll inherit a pretty solid defense and several playmakers on offense such as running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Garrett Wilson. If the Jets can hit on a franchise QB, they could quickly become a force in the AFC.

Las Vegas is also in desperate need of a franchise QB, as well as a new general manager after the unexpected firing of Tom Telesco. Legendary QB Tom Brady seems to be having a major influence in the Raiders' decision making, so Joseph will definitely need to impress him to get the job.

If Joseph does end up leaving to become a head coach, the Broncos will receive a third-round compensatory pick for the next two years per the Rooney Rule. Joseph has more than proven himself as a great defensive mind and would be much-deserving for another head coaching opportunity.
