That was a very ugly loss by the Detroit Lions. After a 5-1 start, the Lions went to Baltimore and got manhandled by a Ravens team that looks like a real threat to win it all this year.

A couple guys showed up for good reasons. More showed up for bad reasons. I've got two winners and five losers in this game. Here they are:

Winner: Jahmyr Gibbs

The Lions were out David Montgomery for this game and that meant Jahmyr Gibbs would have to take on the full load at running back for Detroit. He handled it very well. He was the only bright spot on the entire offense for the Lions. Gibbs finished the day with 126 total yards and the Lions only touchdown.

Loser: Jared Goff

Jared Goff has been very good for a long while now. Sadly that streak of great games came to an end against the Ravens. This was bad outing for sure. The interception is whatever, that might as well have been an arm punt. The real concern was some of those wobbly passes and the reversion into that little spin move he does that almost always winds up with a sack. Just a really bad game for him all around. Goff needs to forget this one and get back to work against the Raiders next week.

Winner: Jack Fox

Jack Fox had a really nice punt or two in this game. The Ravens immediately flipped the field on all of them, but hey, good job Jack. He’s really the only other player that I felt did their job well enough on Sunday.

Loser: Penei Sewell

The Lions offensive line was bad all day. They allowed five sacks on Sunday. The reason why I single out Sewell is that the Lions had two holding calls that prevented big plays in this game. Both of those were on Sewell. You just can’t have those back breaking penalties. Especially from a player that’s as good as Sewell is.

Loser: Cameron Sutton

Sutton looked out of place all day long. I know Lions fans want to pick on Will Harris, becasue it’s like the fun thing to do or something, but Sutton deserves a lot of flack for this game. It was hard to keep track of all of them, but the Ravens had chunk play after chunk play and it looked like Sutton was out of place on nearly all of them. Harris was bad, but you have to be more upset with the guy that’s the regular starter and the leader of this secondary.

Loser: Jameson Williams

It’s crazy to me that there were no pictures of him from this game. I digress on that though.

Look man, I'll be brutally honest here, I'm running out of excuses on this one. You can still say that he hasn't played a lot of snaps and you can still say that he and Goff don't have a that chemistry yet. That's fair to say. The problem is that when his number does get dialed up, which hasn't been a lot, he misses a catch in the end zone or the ball bounces off his face. I'm not ready to use the bust word yet. But I need to see something from this kid that validates the draft pick. I just haven't seen that yet. He's incredibly fast. What else can he do? Please show me.

7 takeaways from the Lions loss to the Ravens

Well, that wasn't fun  for anyone outside of Baltimore. The Detroit Lions got manhandled by the Ravens in 38-6 loss. Just bury this one in the desert and move on.  As always I have thoughts on this game. These are those thoughts: 28 yard pass to a fullback The Lions defense looked pretty bad on […]
