The 2024 NFL Draft is just a few weeks away. Downtown Detroit is going to be jumping as they host the event for the first time ever. What will the Detroit Lions do in front of their fans?

Well, they might trade down out of the first round. Lions GM Brad Holmes has brought up the idea of trading out of the first round on multiple occasions. If the Lions were to do that, what would be the best scenario and who would be their best trade partner? Here's a few that we cooked up:

Cleveland Browns

The Browns don't have a first round pick. They don't make their first pick until almost the end of the second round. The Lions could offer the Browns that first round pick and grab an extra second rounder and then some. Here's the trade proposal:

Lions get: 54th and 85th pick
Browns get: 29th pick

The Lions now have two seconds and two thirds. They could do a lot of damage on day two with that haul. They could even do a package where they try to move back up to the top of the second.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are another team that doesn't have a first round pick and they probably would love to get one, even if they do have the first pick of the second round. A swap with the Lions would get them up there and give them a chance to fill a spot that the teams right above them need to fill. Here's the proposal:

Lions get: 39th and 101st pick
Panthers get: 29th pick

Lions get to move up higher in the second round while still having their other second round pick and they get to close the huge game they have between the 73rd pick and the 164th pick by getting themselves into the fourth round.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are a team that's trying to build up in the offseason and they just lost Calvin Ridley. While they do have the 17th pick, they may look to use that on a corner after cleaning house this offseason. Trading up to 29 could help the Jags take a shot a receiver or they could double down on their secondary. Here's the proposal:

Lions get: 48th and 96th picks
Jags get: 29th pick

You see the theme here. The Lions get to now have two picks in the second round and two in the third after the Jags trade the Lions their compensatory third. They also get to close that big gap we were talking about earlier.

Kansas City Chiefs

The last one is not a trade out of the first, but it's a trade down to the final pick in the first round. The Chiefs are looking for a receiver and so are a lot of other teams involved around their pick. The Chiefs get to jump up a few picks and make sure they lock a guy down. Here's the proposal:

Lions get: 32nd and 95th picks
Chiefs get: 29th and 201st picks

Lions get to stay in the first-round while also closing that gap between their third-round and fifth-round picks. That's worth the cost of that sixth-round pick and moving down a few spots.
