The wait for Detroit Lions safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to return from the torn pectoral muscle injury he suffered in Week 2 is almost over. The good news is that he's been medically cleared to return practice.

Gardner-Johnson lit up phone screens on Wednesday when he posted this on Instagram.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell confirmed on Thursday that Gardner-Johnson is indeed medically cleared.

"Yeah, I got the same report. Which is good news." Campbell said. "It's great news. And so it is back to what we said, he's one of the X Men and he's got these mutant genes.
