Over the weekend there was a little bit of controversy coming out of Allen Park when Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs posted a video of fellow Lions running back Jermar Jefferson doing something funny. In the background of that video was a whiteboard with the Lions run protection codes on it.
When asked about the video, Campbell initially said that he was not aware of it and that he would go check it out. The following day he gave some "no comment" answers on the issue. On Monday he broke his silence about it on 97.1 The Ticket and his answer will have you run through every wall of your house.
"We might as well just put everything out there. I don't really give a crap," Campbell said. "I mean, if we're going to lose because of code words, then we're not good enough anyway. So I think we'll just post the whole freaking playbook out there, and every code word we've got, and it doesn't matter. It's not going to hurt us, it won't affect us, and it's all good."
Campbell went on to say that he's not losing sleep over this and implies that the film that teams have on the Lions is much more valuable to opponents than the code words are.
He also said that doesn't mean he wants his players to go posting all the Lions stuff on social media. He then reiterated that in the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of a deal.
As for Gibbs, there was some who thought that there would be some sort of on field punishment for him. That was never happening, as a matter of fact, Campbell has been messing with Gibbs over it.
"We're fine. As a matter of fact, I joked at him about it yesterday," Campbell added. "I messed with him so it's good."
There you go. It's over and we can all just go ahead and forget it ever happened and move onto the next game.
The fastest pathway for the Lions to clinch the NFC and repeat as NFC North champions after Week 14
We're in December and that means it's time to start talking about playoffs and which teams could be in and which teams could be out. For the Detroit Lions, a playoff spot is set in stone. They clinched in Week 14. It's about two much bigger things now. Winning the NFC North again and clinching […]
