Man, that was not how anyone wanted to spend Christmas. Not the Detroit Lions, their fans, and definitely not Dan Campbell.

The man hates losing, and he’ll tell you that every day of the week and twice on Sunday. So what is he going to do about it?

Campbell’s post-game comments show that big changes could potentially be around the corner

After the game, Campbell was asked what he plans to look at after the season concludes, and he didn’t hold back.

“I’m going to be looking at a lot. I’m going to be looking at a lot of things, because I do not like being home for the playoffs, and I know our guys don’t either,” Campbell said. “Whenever you lose, man, it takes a village. Everyone is involved, including myself. I’m always going to look at myself first.”

When you lose a game like that, going from the NFC North champions with a 15-2 record and the first seed in the NFC to fourth place in the division and outside of the playoffs that fast, heads could roll. Which heads could roll remains to be seen.

At this point, it would make sense that the Lions will be on the lookout for a new offensive coordinator, but could Kelvin Sheppard be out, too? What about special teams coordinator Dave Fipp? What about all the position coaches? How bad is the taste in Campbell’s mouth right now?

You have to look at the roster as well. The Lions have a good number of free agents, and they have some players they will have to decide on. On top of that, this season has to have shown both Campbell and Lions GM Brad Holmes that they can no longer sit on their hands or play it safe when it comes to player acquisition.

We will see what changes could be made soon. The Lions’ season ends next week, but the next steps begin right after that. It will be a long offseason. Campbell and Holmes have to make sure it’s a good one, too.
