One of the big things everyone was watching this offseason was what are the Detroit Lions going to do at receiver with Josh Reynolds gone? The Lions chose to wait until cut down time and signed former Broncos receiver Tim Patrick.
Patrick made his Lions debut on Sunday and while he didn't do a ton, he made a difference in the 30 plus snaps that he played. He caught two passes, one for a first down. He caught a third pass, but was just out of bounds.
The take coming out of that game was that he earned a spot and that if he has a career resurgence, he's going to help the Lions be the best team in the league. After Dan Campbell's presser on Monday, it looks like he in fact nailed down that spot and will get even more to do going forward.
"We liked him. I would say that was a positive showing, you know, to be there and implemented him some of what we were doing. It'd be nice to get, get him a little bit more, but I think that's, that's what we'll do moving forward. I think the idea is to see if we can open this up a little bit and use him a little bit more, but man, he's he's big, he's physical. His catch radius is, you know, pretty enormous. So there's a place for him here. And yeah, I see us using him moving forward."
Patrick's 6-foot-4 frame and his ability to move it and go up and get catches is going to be huge for this team if they use him more and he shows to be even half of what he was in 2020 and 2021. If he can match who he was then, watch out, because this is the missing element this team has needed for a while now.
The Lions are a Tim Patrick resurgence away from being the best team in the NFL, no we’re not kidding
The Detroit Lions made a big mistake when they didn't grab a receiver to replace Josh Reynolds this offseason. They waited until the very last minute to get a guy, but that guy might actually work out. The Lions signed Tim Patrick after the Denver Broncos cut him after camp. The team also signed Allen […]
