Detroit Lions Mock Free Agency: Lions can win it all if they sign all 4 of these realistic options
This should be the plan for the Lions
NFL Free Agency opens up next week, and this is going to be a big one for the Detroit Lions.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a mock offseason where the Lions can score big and not have to break the bank to do it. First, in order to make this happen, the Lions do have to clear some cap space. There are multiple ways to do that, but restructuring Jared Goff is the easiest way. They can open up $40 million this way. The other way is restructure Amon-Ra St. Brown. That opens up $21.5 million.
Now, let’s get into it, and we’ll solve the biggest problem first.
C Tyler Biadasz
In Biadasz, the Lions are getting a solid starting center who has a lot of experience as a starter for both the Commanders and the Cowboys. Last week, the Commanders released him to the confusion of a lot of experts. He allowed three sacks last year, but he still put up positive pass-blocking grades, and, even better for the Lions, he was one of the better run-blocking centers in the league.
Biadasz is 28 years old and won’t be the long-term replacement at center, but the Pro Bowler can really help the Lions over the course of the next few years while they find that next elite center.
Contract Projection: 3 years, $22.5 million
Edge Kwity Paye
The Lions find their next starting edge rusher, and it’s a Michigan Wolverine reunion between Aidan Hutchinson and his old running mate Paye. These guys caused problems together in the Big Ten. Now they can do it in the NFC North.
Paye had a down year in 2025, but being able to capitalize on the attention Hutchinson gets would be a huge help in getting him right back on track.
Contract Projection: 4 years, $50 million
CB Alontae Taylor
The Lions are probably not likely to bring back Amik Robertson, so grabbing a cornerback who can play in the slot is important. The Lions get a veteran guy with Taylor, who is coming off a strong season with the Saints. Assuming Terrion Arnold and D.J. Reed can get back to their healthy and usual selves, this is one heck of a group.
Contract Projection: 4 years, $77 million
TE David Njoku
The Lions are going to need some help at the tight end spot in Drew Petzing’s offense, and part of what you want there is another guy who can get out there and be a pass catcher. Believe it or not, that’s the bonus part with Njoku. The main dish is that he is a tremendous pass-blocking tight end.
Contract Projection: 1 year, $9.5 million
