Former Lions’ OC John Morton has already landed a new job with a playoff team
It did not take long for Morton to land on his feet.
The Detroit Lions are on the lookout for their next offensive coordinator since letting John Morton go after just one season on the job. So far, there are six candidates, and we’ll see who they pick. As for Morton, he’s already landed a new job.
John Morton has joined the Denver Broncos as a consultant for the postseason
Morton goes right back to where he came from, and it makes a ton of sense. When Dan Campbell and the Lions were trying to hire Morton, Sean Payton and the Broncos were trying to keep him. The Chicago Bears were also trying to hire him. He chose to go to the Lions. Now he’s heading back to the Broncos.
While he’s just a consultant now, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if they found him a regular job after the season, especially since the Broncos are likely to lose a bunch of coaches after their success. It wouldn’t be crazy to see him take over for Jim Leonhard as the Broncos’ assistant head coach.
