The Detroit Lions have a big week ahead of them. I've made no bones about the idea that I think Sunday's game against the Vikings is the biggest game in Lions history. Today we learned there's a chance that one of the big implications for that game could be taken care of days before kickoff. Here's the three ways the Lions can clinch the playoffs this week.

Win on Sunday

That's the big one. The most simplest way for the Lions to do it just go out there and beat the Vikings on Sunday. They'll clinch the playoffs and they'll win the NFC North for the first time ever. They'll also win their first divsion title since they played in the NFC Central in 1993.

Rams lose

Here's how one of those implications can be taken care of before kickoff. If the Rams lose to the Saints on Thursday night, the Lions clinch the playoffs. That could be a tough one. The Rams are surging a bit right now and they 4-1 in their last five games.

Don't get it twisted though, this is a very important game for the Saints. They still have chance to win the NFC South and make the playoffs themselves. They won't be laying down in this one.

Seahawks lose

The Seahawks had a magical last minute win over the Eagles on Monday night, but they're still a loss away from the Lions clinching the playoffs. They'll take on the Titans on Sunday. The Titans have nothing to lose. They're eliminated from the playoffs. Sometimes those make for the scariest teams.

We'll see what happens this week. The fun starts on Thursday night.

Sunday might be the most important day in Lions history so far

Here we are. Not long ago it looked like this is a place that we would never be in. Back in 2020 after Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped out half the Lions roster, most of the front office staff and all of the coaches, you wondered how long it might take to rebuild to […]
