If this player ranking comes true, then things are about to get even harder for the Lions very soon

2025 is going to be a big season for the Detroit Lions. They're expected to be Super Bowl contenders, and they have the roster that's built to make that come true.
However, that will come with a price, for sure. After the season, the Lions are going to want to sign guys to extensions. These won't just be any old extensions, though. Jahmyr Gibbs is likely to be the league's highest-paid running back, Sam LaPorta will be the highest-paid tight end, Brian Branch is likely to surpass his teammates Kerby Joseph and be the highest-paid safety, and Jameson Williams is likely to be one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL.
Recently, Pro Football Focus put out a ranking of their top 10 linebackers going into the NFL season, and Jack Campbell showed up on that ranking.
Campbell has been good for the Lions since they drafted him in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but his play hasn't warranted a gigantic contract. He was supposed to be the one extension that would be the easy one. The one that would be pricey, but not top-of-the-market pricey.
If he goes out in 2025 and is a top 10 linebacker, well, that's just going to make life a little more difficult for Brad Holmes and company because there is a world in which Campbell has such a good season that he gets a top of the market deal. Something that's in the $75 million range.
When you look at the rest of these linebackers, they're already set on their deals and in their mid to late 20s. Campbell is the young guy on here and is the guy who could fetch a big deal relatively soon.
The Lions do have the ability to push that down the road a little bit by opting to use his fifth-year option, but eventually the bill will come due. If Campbell reaches that high potential, it's good for the Lions on the field right now, but it makes life harder in the front office if Detroit plans to try to keep every single one of these guys.
The Detroit Lions don’t care about sacks very much, and that’s ok, you shouldn’t either
There is a very large concern on Lions Twitter that the Detroit Lions' pass rush is not strong enough. It doesn't matter that the Lions allowed the fifth fewest rushing yards in the league last year or the second fewest passing touchdowns. It doesn't even matter that the Lions' defense was second in defensive DVOA […]
