It's time to lay off Josh Reynolds, he should absolutely be brought back

The Detroit Lions lost a heartbreaker to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. One of the big stand outs in that game, for all the wrong reasons, was wide receiver Josh Reynolds. Reynolds had two pretty notable drops in this game. One on a crucial fourth down conversion and another on a potential third down conversion late in the game.

This obviously had a lot of Lions fans upset on Sunday night and Monday morning. Mad enough to say that it's time the Lions just let Reynolds walk in free agency this March. That would be a foolish thing for the Lions to do.

Reynolds had a bad day. It's true that happened, but it should not erase what Reynolds was able to contribute to the Lions this year. Which was a lot. Reynolds was one of the Lions biggest playmakers in 2024.

There's a reason why Dan Campbell has so many nicknames for this guy. Nicknames like the mantis of death. It's because Reynolds can kill a team and he strikes out of nowhere. Reynolds did that all season long. He had 40 receptions in 2023 and 32 of them went for a first down. You can see why Goff targeted Reynolds in these spots on Sunday night.

Not only did Reynolds have those catches for first down, he was a chunk yard specialist. He had at least one catch of 20-yards or more in 10 games this year. Reynolds was explosive for this team.

The Lions should absolutely not be listening to the fans on this one. They should be looking to bring back Reynolds for the 2024 season and beyond. The Lions should still be looking to get another receiver, but they should also be looking to lock up the good ones that they already have. Reynolds won't expensive either.

Potential cap casualties for the Detroit Lions ahead of free agency

The Detroit Lions season is over. Now it's time to move into the free agency period. The Lions are likely to be very active when it comes to bringing in new players this March. While the Lions currently have the sixth highest projected cap space in the league, they may still need to free up […]
