There was a lot to be excited about at day two of Lions mini camp on Wednesday. Jared Goff and Jahmyr Gibbs linked up for a big play and Jameson Williams continued to stand out.
Perhaps the biggest thing that happened though came in secondary. More specifically it came when second year safety, and the man who picked off Aaron Rodgers last pass in the NFC North and then told him he was Iron Man before finger snapping him out of existence, Kerby Joseph made a big interception.
First off, the pick on Goff is nice. Joseph was able to spot the ball and get the jump on Kalif Raymond to secure the pick. This is another example of the Lions secondary continuing to be a problem for the Lions offense. It's not going unnoticed. Especially by the Lions starting quarterback.
"Yeah, it’s much stickier I feel like this year." Goff said. "It’s been harder for us to gain separation at this point in OTAs and I think they’ve done a hell of a job making it harder on us and growing as a unit over there.”
Once again, the pick is nice. But the highlight of this play is not the pick. It's what Joseph does after the pick that's really great to see.
After celebrating with the rest of the defense, Joseph runs the ball over the Lions owner Sheila Hamp and hands her the ball. What a statement right?
Before anyone tries to galaxy brain this into something that its not, this is Joseph being the fun loving guy that he's shown himself to be since arriving in Detroit last season. This was not some sort of thing where he was trying to say the Lions need to pay him more or anything like that. This is all fun. But a fun statement nonetheless.
Kerby Joseph has arrived early this summer and he's letting everyone, including the team owner, know it. Joseph could be in for one hell of a season. This guy might be special.
