Lions add their possible Kalif Raymond replacement and reunite Drew Petzing with one of his weapons
The Lions add talent in an area that sneakily needed it
The Detroit Lions have made another signing. No, it’s not an edge rusher, but it is a guy who can come in and do damage at a position of need. Return man.
Lions sign wide receiver Greg Dortch
As Pelissero mentions, Dortch just spent the last three seasons with new Lions offensive coordinator, Drew Petzing, and he is very fast. It’s play speed fast and not that straight line speed, so don’t get upset about his forty-yard dash numbers.
Dortch is one of the better return men in the NFL. In 2025, he put up 811 kick return yards in 12 games. Had he played the whole season, he would have likely had a chance at leading the league or being in the top five. Instead, he was just outside of the top 10. He had 185 punt yards, but only returned 13 punts. The Cardinals’ defense didn’t force a lot of punts in 2025.
On offense, Dortch is exactly the same kind of player that Kalif Raymond is. He’s a smaller receiver at 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds, but he just flies around and can be the guy who can make some of the shorter catches and make a difference with them. 194 of the 204 receiving yards he had last year were after the catch. Also notable, Dortch has had four drops in his entire career. He’s been in the league since 2019.
In addition to his five years with the Cardinals, Dortch has also played for the Panthers, Jets, Rams, and Falcons.
The Lions were expected to have Dominic Lovett compete for this role, but now that Dortch is here, that could change the plans. Lovett still has some really good gunner ability.
