The Detroit Lions defensive line is looking a lot better than it did in 2023. Still, the the team could use some more help in the pass rushing department. There could be a very good option available pretty soon in Patriots' edge rusher Matthew Judon.
After a recent cryptic tweet that pointed to the Patriots not being willing to work out an extension for Judon, there's been some belief that Judon could be traded by the Patriots before the start of the season. If that happens the Lions are considered one of the favorites by BetMassachusetts.

There's a few teams that are ahead of the Lions at this time, but Detroit is a strong favorite to land the Pontiac native. We recently worked up a potential trade proposal and extension cost on this deal. The Lions offer is…
Lions get: Matthew Judon
Patriots get: 2025 fourth-round and 2025 sixth-round (from Bucs) picks
A low cost to pay on the trade end for sure. The offer is based off him being 32-years-old and coming off a shortened season in 2023.
As far as the extension goes, the Lions wouldn't have to pay top dollar like teams just did for guys like Danielle Hunter or Brian Burns. The most likely comp would be similar to the deal the Saints gave to Cam Jordan on a two year extension in 2023. That cost New Orleans $27.5 million.
At this point it seems like a long shot, but training camps open up this week and the belief is that the Patriots want to get all their contract ducks in a row before camp starts. That means there's a chance we could know what happens with Judon by the end of the week. This would certainly be a Super Bowl type move for the Lions and it would make their defensive line one of the very best in the league.

On Wednesday ESPN continued their positional rankings with NFL execs series by ranking out the NFL's best receivers. Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown made the list at seventh after being on the honorable mention side last year. Here's what they had to say: St. Brown famously watched 16 receivers get drafted ahead of him […]
