Lions coach Dan Campbell shuts down Jared Goff trade talk about as hard as anyone can shut something down
That should kill any talk about the Lions trading Jared Goff.
This should be the end of this discussion after today. I don’t know why some Detroit Lions fans are so adverse to having a good quarterback.
There have been a ton of people who have talked about how the Lions will never win anything with Jared Goff, despite this team winning their first two NFC North titles with him, their first playoff wins in over 30 years with him, a chance to play in the NFC Championship game with him, and a 15-win season with him. Has everyone lost their minds?
On Monday, we talked about how the Lions’ trading Goff is pretty much impossible and how Goff is actually the key to the Lions’ entire free-agency plan. But people need to hear it from Dan Campbell, who went on 97.1 The Ticket on Tuesday and shut down the Goff trade stuff before host Jim Costa could even get his full question out.
Dan Campbell says Jared Goff is ‘going nowhere’
“Jared Goff is a stud. He’s an absolute stud,” Campbell said. “We’re fortunate to have him as a quarterback. He’s a winning quarterback in this league. He played at a very high level all season long. He played even better than he played the year before, and he’s continued to play better. We’re thankful to have him. I’m thankful to have him. He’s an absolute stud. He’s a pro. He’s going nowhere.”
There you go. Campbell made that as air-tight as you can possibly make it, too. Not even the click-baitiest writer in the world could turn that around. It’s over; stop talking about it. Goff is your quarterback, and he will be your quarterback for quite a while.
