Lions face renewed concern over Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor’s cheating tactics against Aidan Hutchinson, what’s being done to stop it
A look a what the NFL has done to prevent what happened in 2023
Back in 2023, the Detroit Lions started their season with a bang when they went into Arrowhead the night they were raising their Super Bowl banner and beat the Kansas City Chiefs. That win didn’t come without some controversy, though.
Everyone had their eyes on Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor’s interesting strategy against Aidan Hutchinson.
What has the NFL done to prevent Jawaan Taylor from cheating against the Lions?
That’s the big question I’m sure a lot of Lions fans will have for this game. Well, if you go back to the week after that game, the NFL said they planned to crack down on Taylor’s strategy. That came from the NFL sending out a training tape to all officials to make sure this was properly being flagged. Taylor was flagged five times for it the following week.
That continued into 2024, when the NFL wanted to make illegal formation a strong emphasis. It’s still a thing now. If it makes you feel better, the Chiefs have been flagged for illegal formation three times this year, and two of those instances were because of Taylor. In addition to that, Taylor has been flagged more than any player in the NFL this season. So rest assured that he is being watched, and the Chiefs are too.
