As we get closer to the 2025 NFL Draft, the top 30 visits are starting to come in. So far, the Lions have met with four players. On Friday, a fifth came to light. The Lions met with Maryland linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II in Detroit in early March, the linebacker said at the Maryland Pro Day on Friday.

Hyypolite is coming off a strong season for Maryland in which he racked up a team-leading 66 tackles. He also had 6.5 tackles for a loss and one sack, too. His strong season put him on the Butkus Award watch list. While he was not a finalist, he was still in consideration. In 2023, he was third-team All-Big Ten.

On top of that, Hyppolite was voted in as a team captain by his teammates. That's almost always the players the Lions are interested in taking because they fit the culture all the way.

Hyppolite is currently slated to go undrafted, but that's not going to stop the Lions from being interested in him. This is a team that has signed 30 undrafted players in the past two years combined. They truly believe in their developmental abilities. The Lions have had multiple 30 visits with untreated players including with Nate Lynn last year.

Hyppolite joins a fairly big list of linebackers that the Lions have shown interest in during the pre-draft process.

  • Alabama's Jihaad Campbell: Combine formal
  • Georgia's Chazz Chambliss: Top-30
  • Ole Miss' Pooh Paul: Combine formal
  • Auburn's Jalen McLeod: Combine Formal
  • Minnesota's Cody Lindenberg: Combine formal
  • Penn State's Kobe King: Combine Formal
  • Auburn's Dorian Mausi: Local Pro Day
  • Iowa's Nick Jackson: Hula Bowl

It's clearly a position they're interested in right now. You can see everyone else the Lions are talking to or have met with in our tracker below.
