Another week of Detroit Lions football is in the books and no it's time to take another look at the NFL playoff picture to see if anything has changed. here's what the Lions are looking at as of now.

NFC Playoff Picture

  1. Eagles: 8-1
  2. Lions: 7-2
  3. 49ers: 6-3
  4. Saints: 5-5
  5. Seahawks: 6-3
  6. Cowboys: 6-3
  7. Vikings: 6-4

Not much change from last week. The 49ers were on a nice three game losing streak, but that's over now and they are back to nipping at the Lions heals. The Jaguars were supposed to present a real test to them, but the 49ers handled that test with no problems at all. They still have to go through hell though. They have the Seahawks twice, the The Eagles right in between those two Seahawks games and they also play the Ravens. That's a tough four games that could go either way.

I know there's a lot of concern from Lions fans that the Vikings could be a problem. I still just don't see it that way. They did beat the Saints on Sunday, but they also let the Saints back into that game and gave them three different tries to tie the game in the closing minutes.

The Vikings offense went from 297 yards, 17 first downs seven third down conversions and 24 points in the first half to just 91 yards, six first downs, one third down conversion and three points in the second half. They also allowed the Saints to put up 16 points on them with their backup quarterback.

This Sunday they will have to face a Broncos team that suddenly doesn't look so bad anymore after back to back wins. One over the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs and the other over the Bills, who many believed would be Super Bowl contenders. They'll also have to face a restored Raiders team that's won back to back games and the Bengals before they even get a chance to play the Lions in Week 16. If they come through all that with wins, then you can be a little afraid of the Vikings.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that the Lions go out there and keep taking care of their business. They have a nice schedule ahead of them. Just go wins games and everything will be alright.

Lions ran a play from the Chargers playoff nightmare

It's kind of hard to not feel bad for the Los Angeles Chargers. I grew up a Detroit Lions fan. There's a lot of empathy to feel there. I've also seen a lot of collapses and losses that you can't believe just happened. The Chargers suffered one of the their worst losses last year in […]
