The Detroit Lions will start their pre-draft process very soon when the Senior Bowl begins its practices. While fans may enjoy watching the game, make no mistake, scouts are on the ground for this thing to watch the practices, probably more than anything. It won’t just be for the players, though; teams are there to watch their coaches run practices and see how it goes.

That’s why, typically, teams will send some of their young or up-and-coming coaches to the event that they see bigger things for. For the Lions, it might be their next quarterbacks coach.

Lions send Marques Tuiasosopo to the Senior Bowl to be the quarterbacks coach for the American team

Tuiasosopo has the qualifications for the role. He was an NFL quarterback for eight seasons and was a Heisman Trophy contender in college at Washington. He’s also been a quarterbacks coach for Washington, California, UCLA, and Rice at the college level. The Lions hired him for his first NFL job ahead of the 2025 season, and he’s already made some impacts in Detroit.

I talked with Jared Goff, Kyle Allen, and Hendon Hooker over the summer about the addition of another former NFL quarterback to the Lions’ staff, and all three had great things to say about Tuiasosopo and talked about the impact he had on the team already. It’s a big deal that the Lions have him there.
