Lions to bring in intriguing hybrid weapon from Marshall for top-30 visit, could be a priority move
Could compete for an important spot on the Lions’ roster right away
The Detroit Lions are moving fast on these Top-30 visits. So far, they’ve brought in Tennessee edge rusher Tyre West. Now they’re bringing in another guy.
Lions to host Marshall wide receiver, Damarcus Lacey, for top-30 visit
Lacey is a very intriguing option for multiple reasons, and that’s because he can do multiple things. For starters, he’s a receiver. At Marshall, he put up 65 receptions for 769 yards and five touchdowns in 2025. He also worked as a return man as well. But, previous to Marshall, he was a running back at North Alabama, where he put up 800-plus rushing yards in two seasons.
After you read all of that, who was the first player who came to mind? It had to be Kalif Raymond, who is now a free agent and isn’t guaranteed to be back in Detroit in 2026. Lacey can do a lot of what Raymond can do in theory. He can be a return man, he can be a receiver, and he can do some of the gadget plays, screens, and underneath catches that Raymond has been able to do for the Lions.
That makes Lacey a player to watch. Although he’s projected to go undrafted, this is exactly the kind of player the Lions would make a priority undrafted free agent. Meaning they would go after him hard after the draft and pay him a little more than your average UDFA would make.
The question here is, don’t the Lions already have a guy who can do all of this? They drafted Dominic Lovett in the seventh-round last year, seemingly with the idea that he would take over for Raymond once his time in Detroit was over. If they still plan to go that route, there’s nothing wrong with competition, and perhaps there’s a practice squad spot available for a guy like Lacey. We’ll see what happens.
