Lions to interview Jared Goff’s former quarterbacks coach from the Rams and former Lions quarterback
There is another former Lions quarterback getting looks for the OC job.
The Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator search continues. It’s been a few days since we got our last interview update, and it was former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel. Now the Lions are bringing in the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator for an interview.
Lions will interview Falcons coordinator Zac Robinson for their offensive coordinator job
Zac Robinson spent three years in Los Angeles with Jared Goff as the Rams’ quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. Robinson was also the Rams’ assistant wide receivers coach for a year. When Raheem Morris left to take the Falcons job, he took Robinson with him.
Robinson is actually a good candidate. He is familiar with the quarterback, as mentioned, but the Falcons’ offense is a lot like the Lions’ in theory. Similar running back, similar tight end, and similar receivers. In theory, of course, the Falcons guys haven’t shown to be as good as the Lions outside of Bijan Robinson, who made first-team All-Pro this year. There’s a lot to this one, so on’t rule Robinson out.
Before coaching, Robinson was an NFL quarterback and spent a year with the Lions in 2010. He obviously never played with Matthew Stafford in front of him.
