The Detroit Lions made a rule change proposal ahead of the NFL league meetings this week. The proposed rule change was based off challenges and the number of them that each team can get.
Currently the NFL allows each team to have two challenges per game. The Lions proposed that each team gets three. The third one would be dependent on the challenging team being successful in one of their two used challenges. If you're unsuccessful in both, you you don't get another challenge.
The NFL has approves this proposal. Teams will now have the opportunity to have three challenges per game.
This comes a year after the Lions successfully proposed the emergency quarterback rule. We'll see what they come up with next season. So far they're killing it in the rule change game.
Update: Per the competition committee, this rule "barely passed."
