Two days are in the books and the Detroit Lions have walked out with two draft picks so far. Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold and Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Now the Lions have a bit of time to wait. They do not pick again until the 164th pick in the fifth round unless they trade up. Here's the top five players they should be keeping their eyes on Saturday.
Sione Vaki, S, Utah

No surprise that we put him on this list. He’s one of our favorite players in the 2024 NFL Draft. He also seems to be one of the Lions favorites too. A source told A to Z Sports that that the Lions are “heavily interested in him” and are eyeing to take him in the mid rounds.
They'll have to trade up on Saturday to make it happen. If they do get him, the Lions are going to get a three phase player that can be the next Jamal Agnew. He'll fit in the Lions safety rotation and they can bring him in for special plays on offense.
Mohamed Kamara, ED, Colorado State

The Lions missed out on all the top edge rushers, but that doesn’t mean that talent isn’t there to be had later in the draft. Kamara had a strong year for Colorado State last year. He finished with 14 sacks and 64 pressures. The sacks were fourth in the country and the pressures were also fourth in the nation.
New Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams could get a lot out of him. They'd probably have to move up in the draft to make this pick happen.
Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State

No! I will not give up on the idea that the Lions should take an X receiver in this draft. 6-foot-7 inch johnny Wilson and his 84.7 inch wingspan are still available in this draft. The Lions should be the team to take him.
He can high point the ball, he can win battles with his body and he has an insane catch radius. Jared Goff would love putting the ball on the top shelf for this guy.
Dylan McMahon, C, North Carolina State

If the Lions don’t trade up, they’re likely to miss out on most of the good offensive linemen left. But that doesn’t mean that the Lions can’t score a gem later in the draft with Dylan McMahon.
The big get here is the versatility. McMahon has started at left guard, right guard and center at North Carolina State. That would come in handy if the Lions were to deal with any injuries on the interior of the line.
Jalen Green, ED, James Madison

The nations sack leader last year. Green has 15.5 sacks in half a season. He was well on his way to setting the FBS record before he got hurt in November. That injury kept him out of all the pre-draft events.
That shouldn't keep him from getting drafted though. Green can play and he would make a difference for the Lions once he's healthy and ready to go. The Lions could get him in a Nascar packages similar to the way they use James Houston.
Detroit Lions doubling down on cornerbacks with selection of Missouri’s Ennis Rakestraw in the 2024 NFL Draft
The Detroit Lions are doubling down with cornerbacks as they have selected Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw with the 61st pick. The Lions are seriously committed to fixing their cornerback problem this year. Not only did they get an absolute steal with Terrion Arnold in the first round, they then grab another one of the top […]
