The Lions have two open spots left on their roster, here's 4 things they could be doing with them

Tuesday was quite the day for the Detroit Lions. They made their final cuts and put together their initial 53-man roster and then signed their new X receiver Tim Patrick to the practice squad. Now they have one open spot on the roster.
That is until they add John Cominsky to the IR at some point Wednesday or during the week. Then the Lions will have two spots open. What are they going to do with them? Based off what we've seen, there's a handful of options. Here they are:
Bring back Kyle Peko
This one was strange because he sat out the preseason on purpose as if he was a guy guaranteed a spot and we were essentially told multiple times that the team looked at him as a guy that was making the roster, yet he got cut. That doesn't mean he's done in Detroit.
The Lions did a similar thing with Craig Reynolds last year where they cut him and then cleared some space by putting guys on the IR and brought him right back the next day. It would seem that this is exactly what the team does with Peko once Cominsky is on IR.
Bring in another quarterback
I mentioned this right after the Sudfeld release. The Lions have been saying all summer that they don't see Hendon Hooker as their QB3. They were saying this as recently as Monday. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that they would suddenly change that long held position on a dime less than 24 hours after reiterating their position.
It does make sense that they would drop Sudfeld in hopes to upgrade at the QB2 position though. There's options out there like Bailey Zappe, Mike White, Sean Clifford, Luis Perez and Desmond Ridder. All could clear waivers or will be available already on Wednesday.
Bring up Tim Patrick early
If we had to guess, it would make sense that Patrick doesn't debut with the Lions until Week 2. This would give him some time to get into the playbook and form some chemistry with Jared Goff and the rest of the team. Perhaps they start to feel that early and give him the roster spot before then.
Add another receiver
Just because Tim Patrick is here, that doesn't mean the Lions have to be done at receiver. Especially with all the options hitting the market after the waiver wire is clear. The Lions could look to add one more guy that they feel can help them do some damage this season and bring their total to six. Having depth at the position is a good thing.
5 players the Lions need to target on the waiver wire after final cuts
The cuts are done around the NFL, but roster building is not. Now it's time to go to the waiver wire and see what you can get. There's some real one man's trash is another man's treasure type targets that are available. We've got five guys the Lions could try to put a claim in […]
