The Lions should take a shot at Shaquille Leonard if they get a chance to
The NFL is a crazy place and sometimes crazy things happen. On Tuesday the Colts parted ways with three time All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard. There was reason to believe that this might happen at some point. His usage had begun to dip a bit and it was either now or later. So now an All-Pro […]

So now an All-Pro caliber linebacker is on the market and the Lions could definitely use him. There's going to be some obstacles to overcome if they want to make it happen. First off is that he would have to clear waivers. That's going to be the easier obstacle because of his current contract,
When you see that deal, you can clearly see why he's going to clear waivers. If he becomes a free agent, that all goes away and teams will be able to get him so much cheaper. They'll be able to set the price a little easier as opposed to just going with this price.
With that said, the Bears have a lot of money and their whole identity for my entire life has been that they're going to bring in defensive players no matter what they cost. So they're the one team to worry about in the waiver wire.
The second obstacle is getting him to Detroit when there's going to be a lot of interest. What the Lions bring to the table is that they're one of the best teams in the league, they have a need for him and they have the funds to make it happen. But there are teams out there that have more funds and might be looking to make a larger and longer deal for Leonard.
If the Lions get the opportunity to shoot the shot, they should shoot it. While Leonard isn't having the best year this year, he's not too far from three All-Pro seasons and he's just 28-years-old. There's a lot in the tank still.
If the Lions are able to pull it off, they're adding a very good linebacker to the team in the midst of a run for the division and maybe a lot more. You can't hate that.
We'll see what happens.

They were huge in two different categories that says a lot about the future though. The first one being where […]
