The Lions lost more than a game against the Vikings on Sunday
Injury updates on Christian Mahogany, Penei Sewell, and more.
The Detroit Lions had a very bad day on Sunday. They suffered their second divisional loss of the season in a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. That wasn’t all they lost, though. Let’s talk about it.
The Lions are losing starting guard Christian Mahogany for a ‘long time’
Mahogany went down late in the game, and it looked rough. He whipped his leg up against another leg, and he had to be carted out of the game. After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that he expects Mahogany to be out for a “long time.”
It may not be a season-ending thing, but Campbell did say he could be out till possibly late December. So now the Lions have to figure things out there.
What about Taylor Decker, Tate Ratledge, and Penei Sewell?
All three of those guys went down with injuries in this game, and while they came back, that doesn’t guarantee anything for next week. Campbell didn’t have any answers on these guys other than to see how they feel in practice later in the week. So definitely keep an eye on these.
The Lions could have been in first place in the NFC North
Lost in all of this is that if the Lions won, they would have been 6-2 and holding down the first-place spot in the NFC North because the Green Bay Packers lost to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Now they still have to fight from underneath to try to get that spot back.
