Video shows exactly why Brian Branch went after Juju Smith-Schuster after the Lions’ loss to the Chiefs
Ok, now it’s easy to see why Branch did what he did
Let’s start here. This does not, at all, make what Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch did after the game right. It was bad, it embarrassed the team, and there’s just no place for it in Detroit, according to Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
Branch apologized after the game and explained that while what he did was childish and wrong, he felt like he was being bullied on the field and felt that a hit from behind by JuJu Smith-Schuster was uncalled for and could have resulted in him being injured or even further injured since he was already playing this game hurt. Since then, a video of what Smith-Schuster did has surfaced, and let’s just say that Brnach won’t be the only one getting punished by the league.
Video of Juju Smith-Schuster’s block in the back on Brian Branch looks pretty bad
Yeah, that is not OK, and you can understand on an emotional level why Branch was angry and why he went after Smith-Schuster after the game. Don’t be shocked if he also sees a hefty fine from the league.
Now we wait to see if the NFL decides to just fine Branch or suspend him for a game. If anyone else on this team did it, there probably wouldn’t be much of a response. But it was the guy who’s been fined 13 times for over $100 thousand. It just feels like the time and place where the league would make an example of someone. We’ll see what happens. But to a degree, you can see the justification.

You just can’t do that, Brian.
