Welcome to the Detroit Lions’ biggest and most important week of the season
Everything has to go swimingly this week
The Detroit Lions are coming off a big win, and it’s hard not to quickly turn the page on this one since the Lions are now going into the biggest week of their season. This week is so huge that it could have lasting effects for the rest of the season. Let’s talk about it.
Thanksgiving against the Packers
Starting it off with the big one. A divisional holiday game in which the Lions need to come out with a win. They simply cannot afford to go 0-2 against this team if they want to win the division. Beating the Packers puts them a four wins and then sends them out to play four more divisional games, the Broncos, and the resurgent Ravens. A win for the Lions sends this Green Bay team on a possible trip right out of the playoffs and helps keep the Lions locked into their spot.
The Bears have to face the Eagles
If it feels like the Bears haven’t played a good team in a long time, that feeling is correct.
Now they have to go up against an Eagles team that many believe is the Super Bowl favorite coming off a bad loss to their division rivals. This defense has been stopping everyone all season, and they should be able to do the same thing to the Bears. A Bears loss puts the Lions in first place in the NFC North, assuming they beat the Packers. The Bears then have the Packers twice, the Browns, and then the Lions. Control can be taken this week. There’s a good chance it doesn’t have to be given back.
Vikings vs Seahawks
The Seahawks can effectively end the Vikings’ season in this one. There aren’t a lot of eight-loss teams making the playoffs.
Browns vs 49ers
Shedeur Sanders had a nice debut as the Browns’ QB1, and they got the win. At this point, the Lions need all he separation they can get from teams behind them. If Sanders’ magic is real and the Browns knock off the 49ers, that helps the Lions. Maybe they can double up and beat the Bears later, too.
