The Miami Dolphins are on a heater right now, winners of four straight and five of their last six after a 34-10 shellacking of the New York Jets on the road on Sunday. Don’t look now, but Miami is a game back from .500, and they’re now two games back of the Houston Texans for the final playoff spot in the AFC with four games left to go.

The Dolphins have a couple of AFC North clashes on deck, including a reunion with former teammates Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith on Monday Night Football in Pittsburgh. The Sunday after, the NFL scheduled them to face Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football at Hard Rock Stadium.

Well, for those Miami fans excited about getting to watch their Dolphins take on Burrow on local TV, sorry. The league has flexed the game out of primetime, putting New England at Baltimore in the slot instead. Miami will now face the Bengals next Sunday at 1:00 pm ET.

Miami vs. Cincinnati game on Dec. 21 flexed out of primetime by the NFL

The decision isn’t a shocking one. The Ravens are still in playoff contention at 6-7. The Patriots are the top team in the NFL record wise.

Meanwhile, the Bengals lost to Buffalo 39-34 on Sunday to fall to 4-9 and completely out of the picture for the playoffs. Even with Burrow back and putting up points, the stakes are far lower now, especially in comparison to New England vs. Baltimore.

And while it’s unfortunate that Miami fans outside the local market won’t get the game on their local affiliate, they will at least get to see them take on the Steelers on December 15 on ESPN/ABC. It’s also nice that the Dolphins will still get some national exposure on Monday night against Pittsburgh, which they deserve to have during this terrific run.

We’ll see if the Dolphins can keep the good times going as they make a very unlikely late run towards the playoffs. It’s just too bad that more folks won’t get to see them take on Burrow under the lights inside Hard Rock Stadium.
