Since his retirement, New Orleans Saints fans have mired in the idea that Drew Brees could return to the team in the future. He recently relayed why he has not been able to return to the field since retirement.

On ESPN's "Greeny" radio show, Brees said that he cannot throw with his right arm anymore.

"My right arm does not work. So, when I throw in the backyard right now, I throw left-handed."

Brees also said that he would 'absolutely still be playing' if he was able to throw with his right arm. That's a statement that will break the heart of many Saints fans.

Brees mentions that the degenerative shoulder issues began in 2005 when he was with the Chargers. He suffered an injury there, and further injuries later in his career continued to affect his long-term health.

The legendary QB also acknowledges that he got some calls in 2021 about coming back to the NFL, but he knew that it was not the correct option due to his health.

It's a painful reality for Saints fans. Without those early-career shoulder problems, Brees could still be their gunslinger.
