The New Orleans Saints got off to a solid start on Sunday. They defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in their first preseason action of the year.
The first-team offense and defense were both impressive for the Saints. They looked composed and ready to get to work, and they did exactly that. All in all, there was a lot of good to come from the victory.
At halftime, a former NFL head coach had some strong words regarding the Saints.Steve Mariucci believes that New Orleans is the team to beat in the NFC South. In a weaker division, he is riding with the team's proven talent on both sides of the football.
"This looks like a good, capable football team… We know that the Saints have a good defense right? Well, all of a sudden they got some pieces on offense with a veteran quarterback and Kamara, and you added Jamal Williams. This team should win that division. So far, they look like the team to beat in the NFC South."
His assessment is correct. With the veteran talent and newfound stability at QB, the Saints should have no trouble taking home the NFC South. Of course, injuries could derail that, but hopefully, that will not be the case.
