The New Orleans Saints have had plenty of punting woes over the past couple of seasons. Those did not occur very often from 2009-2020. That's because Thomas Morstead was their boot on fourth down, and he was extremely consistent.
That's how Morstead became a Saints fan favorite. Even in an era where New Orleans did not punt often, Morstead became a key piece to the Saints' success. Now, he is with the New York Jets.
On Tuesday, Morstead made it clear that he'd like to go to the Pro Bowl this season. His last appearance was as a Saint eleven years ago.
Morstead is having an awesome season for the Jets, too. It would be deserved.
He's averaged 49.4 yards per punt. That's a top five average for his illustrious career. The veteran has landed 28 punts inside the 20-yard line through fifteen weeks of play. That's third-most in the league.
The veteran boot has proven that he still has it, and the Saints probably regret letting him walk a couple years ago.

As for the Saints, their punting situation has been much different in comparison. Rookie Lou Hedley has struggled for most of the season. He's averaging just 42.9 yards per punt (last in the NFL).
