The New York Giants continue to build a new staff around head coach Brian Daboll. They've hired two former Tennessee Titans assistants in two days' time.
After adding former Titans DC Shane Bowen as their new defensive coordinator, the Giants are hiring former Titans OC Tim Kelly as their tight ends coach.
Kelly coached tight ends for the Houston Texans in 2017-2018. He's been an OC or passing game coordinator in every year since then. He's an experienced offensive NFL mind.
The assistant has been in the NFL since 2014. The move is another intriguing one because it adds another proven mind to their coaching staff.
In 2022, Kelly's duties included work with the Titans' tight ends, putting together the first- and second-down passing game, and helping with the offensive plan in the red zone. The team's tight ends collectively ranked seventh in the NFL at their position with 952 receiving yards, including 450 yards by fourth-round draft pick Chig Okonkwo, who established a new franchise record for rookie tight ends and led all NFL rookie tight ends in 2022.
During Kelly's time in Houston, the Texans won the AFC South four time (2015-16, 2018-19). He will look to build a strong offense in New York with Big Blue.
