9 Packers pieces who could be playing their final game at Lambeau Field this weekend
The 2025 season is coming to an end, and it’s time to start thinking about the future of the roster.
The Green Bay Packers play their final home game of the regular season at Lambeau Field this Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens. Sure, the Packers still have an away game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18, and potentially could have another home game in the playoffs if they’re able to win the NFC North.
But the most likely scenario at this point is that this is it for games in Green Bay in the 2025 season. That also means some players could be playing their final matchups at Lambeau as members of the Packers — just like every year, next offseason is expected to bring a lot of turnover on the roster.
So, these are the nine players who could make their last Lambeau games for the Packers this upcoming weekend.
QB Malik Willis
Willis may or may not play, as he’s questionable with a shoulder injury and illness. And even if he’s active, chances are that Jordan Love will start at quarterback. But the backup did see playing time last week against the Chicago Bears, and he’s been an impactful part of the roster for the past two years. Next offseason, Willis becomes a free agent, and he might get another starting opportunity elsewhere.
RB Chris Brooks
Both backup running backs Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks are slated to become restricted free agents. It’s highly possibly that the Packers will tender Wilson, but doing it for both gets more complicated. So the Packers may let Brooks hit unrestricted free agency, and getting him back in 2026 is uncertain at this point.
WR Romeo Doubs
The Packers have already extended Christian Watson, and several young receivers are under contract for 2026 (Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks) and beyond (Matthew Golden, Savion Williams). There isn’t enough money to pay everyone, and Doubs’ skill set is more easily replaceable.
LT Rasheed Walker
The likely plan is to have former first-rounder Jordan Morgan as the left tackle of the future. That means the idea of paying $15 million+ a year for an average starter is suboptimal. But because Walker is an average starting offensive lineman, he should get a good contract elsewhere.
C Sean Rhyan
The Packers might very well extend Rhyan and release veteran Elgton Jenkins, who’s theoretically more expensive. But the fact is that Rhyan is an unrestricted free agent, so he may price himself out of Green Bay after his latest decent performances.
EDGE Rashan Gary
Gary is under contract through 2027, but his cap hits for the next two years are $28.021 million and $31.021 million, making $19.5 million next year and $22.5 million in 2027. That’s probably too much money based on what he’s done. Unless he’s willing to accept a paycut, the Packers might be more inclined to trade or release him. On the other hand, the uncertainty around if Micah Parsons will be ready to start next season on the active roster increases Gary’s chances of sticking around.
EDGE Kingsley Enagbare
Enagbare has been important this season because of his ability to stop the run from the edge. However, he has limited upside as a pass rusher and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent. Because the Packers have Parsons, Lukas Van Ness, and rookies Barryn Sorrell and Collin Oliver, it may be a decision between Gary or Enagbare.
LB Quay Walker
The Packers wanted to keep Quay Walker around, and probably still want. But the team was unable to exercise his fifth-year option due to market circumstances, and now it may be hard to extend him on something around $15 million per year. Everything will depend on the contract negotiations, since off-ball linebackers have limited positional value.
CB/WR Bo Melton
Melton made a transition to cornerback in training camp, but hasn’t even played as a CB this season. He’s an important special teamer, though, and had valuable snaps at wide receiver. A restricted free agent, Melton brings flexibility to the roster, but it’s unclear how things will shake out for him.
