The Green Bay Packers found a special player in Edgerrin Cooper. The second-round linebacker has been named, once again, the NFC defensive player of the week after a huge performance against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football in Week 15.

Cooper recorded five tackles, two tackles for loss, two passes defensed, a sack and an interception during the Packers's 30-13 win. He became the first rookie linebacker to record multiple tackles for loss and passes defensed since 2016 (Nick Kwiatkoski).

“Coop is a hell of an athlete, man,” head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game in Seattle. “He's a really good football player, I think he's just scratching the surface of what he could become in this league.”

Great company

Edgerrin Cooper had already been the NFC defensive player of Week 8, when the Packers beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has become the first Packers rookie ever to win the award twice in the same season. Cooper is the fifth rookie ever to do it, joining Nick Bosa (2019), Brian Cushing (2009), Kamren Kinchens (2024) and Shaquille Leonard (2018).

The second-rounder became the first Packers player to win the weekly award twice in the same season since Clay Matthews in 2010.

Cooper also became the first former Texas A&M player to win Defensive Player of the Week multiple times as a rookie.

Edgerrin Cooper has also been named the defensive rookie of the week, combining both conferences.
