One of the reasons that superstar wide receiver Davante Adams no longer plays for the Green Bay Packers is because he wanted to play with his good friend Derek Carr.
Adams' desire to play with Carr is part of what led to the Packers trading the wide receiver to the Las Vegas Raiders last spring.
When Adams was traded to the Raiders and subsequently signed a five-year contract, he probably didn't think he'd only be playing one season with Carr in Las Vegas.
But that appears to be what's going to happen.
The Raiders benched Carr for the final two games of the 2022 season. And all signs point to the veteran quarterback either being traded or released after the season.
Adams gave his thoughts on the situation this week and spoke about his future with the Raiders.

"Yeah, absolutely, I wouldn't have been here or ended up here, originally, probably if Derek wasn't here," said Adams to reporters this week. "But that doesn't necessarily mean that I won't be here in the event that he's not here. That's my boy. Obviously, I've got his back through anything. I think I've made that more than clear at this point. I support him and I support everything that he has moving forward as well."
"But my dream was to play for this team before he was a Raider, and at this point I want to try to make this thing work and continue on doing what I'm doing here, myself get better and see the team grow and get better as well."
Adams also suggested that he'd like to be kept in the loop on the Raiders' quarterback decision for 2023.
"They don't have to do anything — I'm not a part of the front office — but they know the reason why I came here," said Adams. "And a step like this is something that means a lot to me and my personal career and what I'm trying to chase as far as the ultimate pursuit, to get that ring."
Adams sounds like he's locked in with the Raiders, though he hedged his comments a bit by including things like "doesn't necessarily mean that I won't be here" and "at this point".
We'll see how this plays out, but it wouldn't be a total shock if Adams demands a trade in the event that he doesn't feel comfortable with the Raiders' quarterback situation in 2023.
Adams has already forced a trade once, there's certainly a possibility it could happen again.
