It's no secret that the Green Bay Packers need to add a No. 1 wide receiver to the roster.

Green Bay traded star wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason (at the behest of Adams), leaving quarterback Aaron Rodgers without his top offensive weapon.

The Packers currently have Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Sammy Watkins as their top three wide receivers. Solid players, but none of those wide receivers are true No. 1 options.

There's been some speculation that Green Bay could trade for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf, who is looking for a lucrative contract extension.

Seattle, however, seems committed to keeping Metcalf in a Seahawks uniform, so I'm not sure how viable that option is for the Packers.

Green Bay's best shot at landing an elite wide receiver at this point could be to trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who is also looking for a new contract.

San Franciso wants to keep Samuel, but it appears that Samuel has put a halt to contract extension talks.

This is basically what just went down with the Packers and Adams.

Green Bay needs to take a page out of the Raiders' playbook and quickly make a play for Samuel.

Samuel, who turned 26 in January, is coming off a breakout season where he caught 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns. If the Packers land Samuel, it could convince Rodgers to stick around for a couple more years.

More importantly, trading for Samuel would instantly make the Packers one of the favorites in the NFC (along with the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers) to reach the Super Bowl this upcoming season.

Green Bay has the draft capital to make a move for Samuel. There might not be a better wide receiver option available this offseason. The Packers can't let this opportunity to massively upgrade their roster pass them by.
