The Green Bay Packers (3-3) are in the middle of a two-game losing streak. Even more blatant is the manner of which they're being beat.

From both ends of the field, the Packers run game is grounded and their run defense is getting pounded.

Green Bay field's the sixth worst run defense in the NFL. Allowing 4.9 yards per carry on the season (eight most), and 4.63 yards per carry in losses.

This road doesn't get any easier either. For the remainder of the season, the Packers defense will play seven more games this season against team's who are averaging over 4.0 yards per carry. Including five of the top scoring offenses in the game.

Despite the initial belief that this defense could be great, they are struggling as a unit. Allowing nearly five yards every time a runner has the ball is only going to wear the down as the season continues.

What's worse for the ground game is the offense is struggling just as much.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the entirety of the offense on his back. Even with lackluster offensive line play, underwhelming receivers and an almost non-existent running game.

No wonder he would like things simplified.

The Packers are allowing the brunt to be put on Rodgers back, all while getting sacked 15 times and pressured 57 times (25.2% pressure rate) through the first six games.

All while the running game is averaging 4.7 yards per carry, with only 156 carries per game (13th). Aaron Jones (5.8 y/c) and AJ Dillion (4.0 y/c) are both effectively running the ball, but the offense isn't giving them near enough touches.

If the defense can't stop the run, and the offense keeps stopping it's own run, this will be  a lost season. There's still 11 games left for 2022 and plenty of time to rectify. Just as long as the Green Bay Packers get out of their own way.
