Packers’ top weapon takes advantage of unfortunate situation to finally solve lingering problem he needed addressed
Jayden Reed had two surgeries at once.
Wide receiver Jayden Reed missed part of training camp and the preseason due to a foot injury. He started the first two games of the regular season, against the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, playing through it. However, an unfortunate situation gave him the chance to address his Jones fracture in a definitive way.
Last week, he suffered a broken collarbone in the first quarter versus the Commanders, and that injury is expected to keep him out for six to eight weeks. So on Tuesday, Reed had two surgeries at once, repairing both the shoulder and the foot.
The wide receiver would avoid the foot surgery and play through it. But since he will miss playing time anyway, it made sense to address that right now. When he can return from the shoulder issue, the foot will also be in a much better condition.
Hilarious reaction
Jayden Reed posted on social media a video that his family recorded of him right after the procedure. The offensive weapon was waking up from the anesthesia, and the meds were still somewhat active.
“Packers to the Bowl, bruh,” Reed said. “We turnt! We going all the [expletive] way.”
You can see that the confidence in the locker room is real, even when the consciousness is limited.
Production on the field
A second-round pick in 2023, Reed led the Packers in receiving yards in each of his first two seasons in the NFL. In the first game of the season against the Lions, Reed had three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown.
The injury came on an impressive play from Reed that didn’t count. He caught a beautiful throw from quarterback Jordan Love, but there was a holding penalty from right tackle Anthony Belton that negated the score.
Reed is expected to return at some point in November.
