The rest of the NFL can no longer ignore what Packers quarterback Jordan Love continues to prove week after week
Packers quarterback has played at an elite level.
It was easy to say this offseason that Jordan Love had only a stretch of great games late in 2023. After all, he was inconsistent early in his first starting season, and he had to contend with multiple injuries in 2024, which limited his production and availability.
But those who closely watched his level of play knew. After Love broke out in 2023, and considering what he went through last year to still perform at a good level, it was just a matter of health and time for him to be elite again.
Jordan Love’s key stats have been impressive in 2025
The Packers played two respectable defenses to start the regular season: the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders. And the offense was without Christian Watson for both games and Jayden Reed for the second one. Against the Commanders, right tackle Zach Tom and left guard Aaron Banks didn’t play either. Still, Jordan Love’s stats are elite.
Adjusted EPA/play: 3rd
Success rate: 5th
Completion percentage over expectation: 3rd
Air yards: 1st
Average depth of target: 1st
PFF grade: 6th
QBR: 8th
Passer rating: 4th
The most notable aspect is that, throughout his NFL career, Love has always been explosive but lacked down-to-down consistency. This year, even the consistency stats have been great — success rate, CPOE, and PFF grade all value what a player does play after play, and Love has been extremely consistent.
And this is while he is the most aggressive quarterback in football, leading the league in air yards and average depth of target by a significant margin.
It’s not even Toyotathon yet, and Love is already among the best passers of the season.
Browns gives Packers perfect chance to prove they’ve moved past a major offensive problem
Last year, the Packers’ offense struggled to beat man coverage. The early signs are promising this season, but a big test is coming on Sunday.
Through two weeks, the Cleveland Browns are the only team in football that plays man coverage in more than half of their defensive snaps. It’s 46% of Cover 1 and 5% of zero blitz. The primary zone coverage for them is Cover 2, at a 21% rate.
It’s certainly an aggressive unit led by defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. And one that will force the Packers to win one-on-ones, especially the wide receivers.
If Green Bay proves it can be effective versus man, Love will put himself in a position to battle against the best quarterbacks in football week in and week out.
