It was a tough, disappointing season for the Green Bay Packers. The team was 11-6, the offense was third in DVOA, but it still fell short relative to the high expectations coming into the season.

Part of that, losing to top NFC contenders, being the third place in the NFC North, and losing the first playoff game to the Philadelphia Eagles, was because quarterback Jordan Love had a sequence of adversities throughout the year.

In Week 1, in Brazil, Love suffered a torn MCL. He also had a groin injury because of that first knee injury. Late in the season, he also suffered an elbow issue.

“Every year is a year of growth. You look at this year, me battling through injury, having that adversity that I'm trying to fight through. Several injuries,” Love said on the Up and Adams Show on Friday. “So it was a lot of fighting through, getting my mind right for the game, trying to fight through some pain. It was an inconsistent year, so there was a lot more adversity throughout the course of the season. It was highs and lows. Rocky season that I learned a lot of lessons on.”

Now that the season is over, Love talked in more detail about what went on. After that first initial injury in São Paulo, it was always tough to be 100%—both physically and mentally.

“Week 1, MCL, that was the big one. I missed two games with it, came back. Came back early, I was fighting through that,” Love added. “It was a tough injury, one that limits you a little bit, what you can do mobility-wise. A couple weeks after that, I strained my groin because of the knee. So that whole thing kind of put a damper on things. Every week, every day in the studio you're doing the rehab, tryna fight through, and just trying to get ready for the game. A lot of your mindset goes to try to get your body right for it. But it's tough, you're not a 100%, but we all know no one is ever a 100% in the NFL.”

Much of Jordan Love’s game is based on pocket mobility, so not being well physically obviously affected his performance. Even so, he still had a relatively productive season, finishing it 10th in EPA/play and 15th in success rate.
