The Green Bay Packers are trying to reload their running back room after the Aaron Jones era, and the offense received good news during Wednesday's practice during the organized team activities.

Projected starter Josh Jacobs was back at practice. Last week, he was sidelined because of hamstring issues. But that wasn't anything major, so Jacobs was ready to go while adapting to his new teammates and new scheme.

During practice, Josh Jacobs had some reception drills. That's particularly interesting because Jacobs hasn't had a single receiving touchdown in his NFL career, and the Packers stressed after signing him that it's possible to extract more out of him in this phase of the offense.

"When you look at his body of work, his play style, his running style, he’ll excel (in all situations)," head coach Matt LaFleur said earlier this offseason. "There are some things we can do in the pass game as well, get him out in the backfield."

Jacobs himself said how important it is to untap that potential.

"That was one of the first things I asked when I came here," Jacobs told Packers.com. "I'm like, 'Can I just catch the ball more?' Just because I feel like I showcased that a lot in college. Not having a receiving touchdown is kind of crazy. So that's definitely on my bucket list."

Over the seasons at Alabama, the running back totaled 571 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns, including three in his last NCAA season in 2018.

Josh Jacobs signed a four-year, $48 million deal with the Packers back in March. On the same day, the Packers released Aaron Jones, who ended up signing with the Minnesota Vikings.

More practice notes

> If the injury front news was good for the offense, it wasn't so much for the defense. Second-year edge defender Lukas Van Ness worked with the rehab group.

> After practicing exclusively as a tackle during rookie minicamp and the first OTAs, first-round pick Jordan Morgan had his position drills at guard on Wednesday. That versatility was one of the big reasons why the Packers took Morgan so early in the draft.

> Left guard Elgton Jenkins wasn't present at practice on Wednesday.
