Micah Parsons gets candid about the pain and emotion tied to his ACL recovery in a moment that resonates
Star edge defender is attacking his recovery in an impressive way.
As the Green Bay Packers prepare for a playoff game on Saturday, their biggest defensive star is living a completely different reality. Micah Parsons is out for the season with a torn ACL, and his battle to return as early as possible in the 2026 season is underway.
On Friday, Parsons shared a touching and rough perspective about his recovery process. On social media, the star edge rusher admitted it’s a painful recovery, but he’s improving faster than anyone could have anticipated.
Recovery timeline
Micah Parsons tore his ACL on Dec. 14, in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos. Usually, this type of injury takes around 10 months to get back on the field, which would mean a mid-October comeback next year. However, Parsons previously expressed his intention to return in September, during the first month of the regular season.
Parsons had his knee surgery last week and is already doing impressive things considering the circumstances.
“I talked to him,” head coach Matt LaFleur said. “He was in great spirits, and it sounded like everything went really well. He’s ahead of schedule already.”
Micah Parsons is under contract with the Packers through 2029. He’s set to make $40.8 million in 2026, $38 million in 2027, $41 million in 2028, and $45 million in 2029. Green Bay gave up two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys to acquire Parsons back in August. He finished his first season in Green Bay with 12.5 sacks.
Now, there’s plenty of time for him to keep making an impact for the franchise. And by the way Parsons is attacking his recovery, the star player is just proving he has the right mindset to get back and lead the Packers over the next half decade.
