Micah Parsons makes Tom Brady part of a revealing answer that shows exactly how he thinks about greatness in the NFL
Edge rusher is building a great career.
When an NFL player is on a special path, his progress includes notable feats and incredible matchups. Back in January 2023, Micah Parsons was responsible for the last sack of Tom Brady’s career during a Dallas Cowboys 31-14 playoff win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Almost three years later, Parsons still treats that with the due value, mentioning Brady as his favorite quarterback to sack. After all, greatness wants to meet greatness.
“Probably it is Tom,” Parsons said on the ‘On Football with the AP’s Rob Maaddi’ podcast. “Because every time I see him, it’s a competitive matchup, whether it’s on the field, off the field, whether it’s golf or fanatics games, he’s always trying to be the best. When you can say you’re the last person to take out an elite competitor like Tom, it’s a special privilege.”
Just a regular week for Parsons
That game ended up being Parsons’ only playoff win with the Dallas Cowboys. Now that he’s on the Green Bay Packers, a matchup against his former team is on the horizon. And while getting to Brady was rewarding, the feeling will be different to sack Dak Prescott on Sunday.
“It’s going to be painful,” Parsons revealed. “Dak’s my guy, he was always a good mentor for me. But he always told me if I’ll face him, it’ll be a great matchup. So I’m excited to see what Sunday brings us.”
Despite that sentiment, Micah Parsons won’t treat the Cowboys game next Sunday as a special event. It’s just a regular game for the Packers, trying to recover from a disappointing loss to the Cleveland Browns last week.
“For me, I accepted my fate when the trade happened,” Parsons explained. “So it’s all about playing another game and doing what I do best, which is being a disruptive football player. I think the media and the fans are trying to blow it up as a big thing, but I just look at it as another game at AT&T.”
Even playing a limited number of snaps throughout the first three weeks of the season, Micah Parsons is tied for the ninth player in the entire NFL in pressures (15), leading the Packers.
His effect goes beyond that, making the pieces around him better. Green Bay is the only team with four players with double-digit pressures—Parsons (15), Devonte Wyatt (13), Rashan Gary (13), and Lukas Van Ness (11).
